My daughter is scooting in her crib?

She scoots up all the way up to the top and then sideways. I am afraid of her pressing her face up against the bumpers, and if I take them off I am afraid of what the bars will do to her. Did anyone else ever have this problem, and if so what did you do? She is almost 5 months old right now. I think she is at an age where she would move her head if she can't breathe, but I am just not sure.
