I hope you didn't get hired by claiming that you spoke comprehensible English. If you did, your exaggeration will surely cost you your job. It is always better to tell the truth in a job interview and not overstate your qualifications. Otherwise you set yourself up for failure and apparently unjustifiable bitterness, based on your comment.
