How can i increase EP in runescape?

is there a safe way to increase it? right now, my ep is terrible, only 8%, because i teleport out of combat sometimes when thinigs get hot. I pk in the hot zones in varrock, not the wilderness. Is there a way i can increase EP, without too much risk? Or does EP not make a big difference since i only pk with about 20k worth everytime in varrock hotzones?
