Questions about Satanism?

I am Catholic and I think that all this talk about satanism is horrible, why would you want to lead a life down a dark path like that, always in fear and feeling depression, and evil all around you. Why, how does this sound like fun. Why not put your faith into something that is about love, and happiness, and joy. I do not understand people at all that choose to follow a dark path!!
