Is there a direct correlation between religion and illiteracy?

Statistically, about 70% in the US believe in a supernatural being. It seems to me about the same percentage as those who can't tell the difference between there, their, your, you're, where, wear, lose, loose .... Pick a nym, any nym. Am I on to something or do I need to ge a life? Where do I purchase said life and how much does it cost?
